OFFSTAGE: Kacey Musgraves Debuts in Vintage Dress and a Banjo

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Country rookie Kacey Musgraves is one of those genuine country artists who is all about the music. But still … sometimes you’ve got to shine yourself up a little and put on your best dress. Like when you’re making your national television debut, as she did on Wednesday (Feb. 13) night’s Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Musgraves performed her hit song “Merry Go Round” in a vintage white pique party dress with red rick rack trim (which she found at a shop in Nashville), a pair of hot pink suede ankle-strap Dolce Vita platform pumps (that you can find for about $100) and the best accessory I’ve ever seen on a girl — six-string banjo with a guitar neck. (It’s the kind Keith Urban and Taylor Swift often play.) After the show, Musgraves celebrated with dinner with her family in New York City and a quick little tweet that said, “One of the most awesome days EVER!!”
