OFFSTAGE: Wynonna Ready to Tango

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

In a few weeks, Wynonna Judd will head to the dance floor with professional dancer Tony Dovolani, and she’s ready to tango. “I’ve been through an emotional rollercoaster over the last year,” she said in a press release. Her husband Cactus Moser lost his leg in a motorcycle accident last summer. “I focused on being a wife and a nurse for the last seven months, and now I’m doing something for myself.” She said joining the cast of Dancing With the Stars is risky and a way of stepping out of her comfort zone while “doing something that a lot of people tell me is crazy.” The grueling dance rehearsals and nonstop workouts usually end up getting contestants in the best shape of their lives. On Good Morning America, Wynonna joked, “I’m trying to get back to my original weight of 8 pounds and 6 ounces.” She said her favorite dance is the tango. “It is incredibly romantic and passion-filled,” she said. “It is one of my favorite dances to watch.”

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
