Beach ball season is right around the corner. And Miranda Lambert isn’t thrilled about it. Because if you’ve ever been to an outdoor concert, you know what a nuisance those colorful bouncy inflatables can be. As a fan (and a journalist who cannot take notes and watch for incoming balls at the same time), I hate them. And as a singer, Lambert hates them, too. “Beach balls are the enemy. People need to know that. Some people are scared of clowns. Some people are scared of moms. Or whatever. They have their little fears,” Lambert sounded off to People magazine. Her fear is definitely the ill-timed beach ball. “When I’m singing a ballad onstage and a beach ball comes flying at my head, it makes me crazy. Literally. So I keep a box cutter on my drum riser for such occasions.” I guess we should just be relieved that she doesn’t keep gunpowder and lead in her beach ball arsenal.
