Alan Jackson Reschedules Concerts to Attend George Jones’ Funeral

Alan Jackson is rescheduling two concerts in Canada this week to attend George Jones’ funeral taking place Thursday (May 2) at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. Jackson’s Wednesday show in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, has been moved to May 6, and a Thursday appearance in Sydney, Nova Scotia, will now take place on May 7. In 1992, Jackson was one of several artists who made guest appearances on Jones’ recording and video of “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.” Jackson and Jones also recorded a duet version of “A Good Year for the Roses” for Jones’ 1994 album, The Bradley Barn Sessions. When Jones boycotted the 1999 CMA Awards for being told to perform only a short portion of a song, Jackson interrupted the song he performed during the live telecast to sing Jones’ “Choices.”
