OFFSTAGE: Keith Urban Guests With Rolling Stones in L.A.

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

In some kind of ultimate game of rock star “would you rather” game, this is how Keith Urban saw his chance to play with the Rolling Stones: “If I had have been offered either a trip to the moon or sitting in with the Stones, I would still have been strapping on my Tele, saying screw the moon.” Urban walked onstage to join the legendary band during Friday’s (May 3) show at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood toss him a guitar solo on the late ’70s song “Respectable,” and he even sings along with Mick Jagger on the “get out of my life, don’t take my wife” part. Urban was the Stones’ surprise performer, and the idea that he might show up at other shows would almost make the price of Stones tickets — the cheapest seats in some markets have a face value starting at around $165 — seem like a relative bargain.
