OFFSTAGE: Tim McGraw on Taylor Swift’s Poise and Style

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Tim McGraw was about 25 when his major label debut single “Welcome to the Club” was released. So he was young, but not Taylor Swift young. And he admitted to E! Online that Swift’s age must make things a little more difficult. “I was young when I started but not nearly as young as her. It’s gotta be tough. But she’s just got such poise and a confidence about her. I think she’s really handled herself well,” McGraw said of Swift. Then he said she’s the kind of artist who creates such a wave that everybody falls into it. And most of all, McGraw praised Swift’s songwriting. “She’s got a great sense of style, she’s a beautiful girl and she’s a great singer,” he said. “But I think as much as anything, she is a really fantastic songwriter.” Swift duets with McGraw on his current “Highway Don’t Care” song and video.
