OFFSTAGE: Blake Shelton: Romantics ‘Round Here

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

How do I love thee, Blake Shelton? Let me count the ways. You are already two years into your marriage to Miranda Lambert, and it sounds to me like you are still thinking like a romantic newlywed.

One, you tried to buy your wife a huge mansion in Los Angeles. “I found this big-ass nice house with a pool, and the first time she ever came, she was like, ’This is dumb. Why did you get a house this big,” Shelton recalled to People magazine. Still, it was the thought that counts. It was a grand romantic gesture most girls can only dream about.

Two, you try to be with Lambert every chance you can, even if it’s not written down on a calendar somewhere. “The truth is that you just got to take advantage of every window of time that you have, and you can’t force it to happen,” he said.

And three, you’re considering having babies for all the right reasons. “I’m thinking about a family. Learning to not be selfish is what has changed in me the most since being married,” he said. “I’m thinking on behalf of someone else, just like I hope she’s doing with me.”
