Mumford & Sons Cancel Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass Festival Performances

Mumford & Sons have canceled the remainder of its Summer Stampede tour while bassist Ted Dwane recovers from brain surgery. Cancellations include headlining sets Saturday (June 15) at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn., and Thursday (June 20) at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, Colo. Monday's concert at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kan., will be rescheduled along with previously-announced postponements of other shows which had been set for this week in Texas and Louisiana. Singer-songwriter Jack Johnson will fill in for the British band at Bonnaroo. Dwane was hospitalized earlier this week and underwent surgery to remove a blood clot on the surface of his brain. In a message on Mumford & Sons' official website, the band said, "It is with great joy that we can announce that Ted has been discharged from hospital and is on the road to a full recovery. The surgery went well, and the excellent medical team helping him are very pleased with his progress. He has been nothing short of heroic in how he has handled the whole ordeal, and now it has been medically proved that he does indeed have a brain."
