OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood, Six Seconds at a Time

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

It’s funny that Carrie Underwood’s fans have waited such a long time for her to join Vine. And now that she has, they’ll only see six seconds of her at a time. If you’ve never heard of it, Vine is a phone app that allows you to create and then share videos, but they can only be — at most — six seconds long. So just when you start getting into a video, it’s over. But after being such a natural on Twitter and then getting so good at sharing on Instagram, Underwood has agreed to give the newest social networking site a try. “Fine fine … I did it! Probably won’t ever post anything, though. You peer pressured me into it! Are you all happy?” she tweeted on Thursday (June 13). But that’s how we all act when we first embrace a new trend. So I bet before we know it, she’ll be sharing clips of her dogs, her husband and maybe even some super-quick looks at some of the behind-the-scenes parts of her life. Underwood isn’t the first to get into Vining. Jason Aldean, the Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves are some early adopters.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
