OFFSTAGE: Kellie Pickler Tells The View About Supporting Friend During Chemotherapy

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Hot topics. They are what make The View … well … The View. And on Tuesday’s (June 18) show, it was hysterical to watch guest co-host Kellie Pickler try to get a word in edgewise. With three other women vying for their turn to speak their minds on everything from spousal abuse to Superman, Pickler had to work hard to be heard. But when the talk turned to breast cancer, she was able to share her heartwarming story about shaving her head to support her friend during her chemotherapy. “It’s just hair,” Pickler said. “And there was something just very powerful about doing that and breaking that mold of what we think we need to look like.”

Other topics Pickler shared her thoughts on:

Learning to dance from Derek Hough: “It was amazing. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I had a great teacher. You have to have that dancing drill sergeant.”

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson being physically abused in public by her husband: “That ain’t got nothing to do with her cookbooks. That’s not our business.”

The trend of boudoir photography for brides and their bridesmaids: “I don’t think that girls need any encouragement taking nude pictures of themselves. There’s been a lot of problems with that in the past.”

On the medical need for getting a lot of sleep: “I’m a napper.”

To actress Mireille Enos about her new film World War Z: “Are you a big fan of zombie movies?”
