OFFSTAGE: Brad Paisley on the “Best Invention Ever”

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

At this point, car radios have become pretty old school. I mean, there are lots of ways to listen to music. For Brad Paisley, however, the radio is still his benchmark for a hit song. He told CMT Radio the car is where he likes to play new music for his friends. “They should be able to have that reaction without me sitting across from them, going, ’Well, whaddaya think?’ That’s no fun,” Paisley said. And he’s right. That’s too much pressure on the friend. “In a car, you’re both facing the same direction, and you’re both watching the world as it comes towards you. And there’s something about that that is just the only place to listen to music for me,” he said. “It’s the best invention ever — the radio inside of a car.” It does make me wonder this: When Paisley listens to Paisley in his car, does he sing along and play dashboard drummer like I do?
