OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood on Filling Faith Hill’s Shoes

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Carrie Underwood knows it’s not going to be easy to fill Faith Hill’s shoes. (Actually, they’re not even so much shoes. They’re more like thigh-high black leather boots.) But she admitted to CMT Radio she’s happy to take over NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme song responsibilities from Hill. “For me, to have that opportunity and to follow in [Hill’s] footsteps and do something really cool like that, it sounded like fun, you know? This is something that’s been a part of our household for a while now,” Underwood said. “And to be a part of that is exciting, I can’t wait!” You can hear how she does on Sept. 8 when she’ll sing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” for the first time before the game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys.
