OFFSTAGE: Brad Paisley Ready to “Set Somethin’ on Fire”

There’s a song on Brad Paisley‘s new album — a duet with Dierks Bentleycalled “Outstanding in Our Field.” It contains the following lines: “We’re gonna show you how the experts kill us a Friday night/We drive out in the country, set somethin’ on fire.” And it sounds like that’s exactly what Paisley has planned for celebrating Independence Day. (And it looks like his tour is taking a break until later this month, so he may actually be able to be at home to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.) “More recently, we’ve started to fire off fireworks where I live on my farm. I would say we have more of a tradition now than I had as a kid. I love fireworks anyway, and I like playing with matches,” Paisley said. “So that’s what we do. We go down and set off a bunch of fireworks off the dam of my pond.” Paisley’s brother-in-law is a firefighter and is in charge of the pyrotechnic devices every year. “So we can blame him if something goes wrong,” Paisley said.
