OFFSTAGE: The Band Perry Can’t Stop the Music Conversation

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Remind me never to have dinner with The Band Perry. It sounds like it would be way too quiet, especially if we weren’t talking about the music. Lead singer and big sister Kimberly Perry recently told Nashville Lifestyles magazine that when she and her bandmate brothers Neil and Reid tried to have dinner one night and not talk about business, there wasn’t much to say.

“We were all sitting in silence because we truly didn’t know what to talk about,” Kimberly said. “And that’s really the way that we prefer it. We are a family and business partners, and we share everything from creative ideas to relationship advice.”

So what do they talk about when they agree it’s OK to talk about the business? The year 2014. Because Kimberly says, “2014 is our year to headline.” She says the band is already starting to plan for that now by designing the stage and discussing which artists should come with them.

Right now, the Perrys are staying busy playing fairs and festivals and also continuing their spot on the Rascal Flatts tour through October. And they have a long list of stops overseas on their We Are Pioneers world tour at the end of 2013. So by the time 2014 arrives, the band will have had plenty of practice onstage and will be more than ready to emerge as headliners.
