OFFSTAGE: Taylor Swift Already in Her Song Laboratory

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Taylor Swift recently told Rolling Stone that even though she’s in the middle of her Red tour, she’s already thinking about what’s next. Like collaborations, experimentation and getting a little irritating. She said she loved collaborating because she’s made some dream connections in the studio. “But I also have a really long list of the people I admire and I would really love to go and contact. So that’s kind of where that is,” she said. As for the experimenting, she said she’s cool with that for her post-Red efforts. “If you’re willing to become a different version of yourself, you can really go anywhere with it. And that’s kind of where I am. The kind of laboratory experimental stage of really catching onto a new thing that I’m liking,” Swift said. However, she also admitted she’s about to get kind of irritating. “I’m getting to that point where I’m irritating to be around because I’ll be with you for half the conversation and then the second half of the conversation I’m clearly editing the second verse of whatever I’m writing in my head,” she said.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
