OFFSTAGE: Hunter Hayes Can Make Long-Distance Love Work

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

You have to love Hunter Hayes’ can-do spirit — even when it comes to love. We know the singer wants crazy, because he says so in his current single. But for him, crazy can mean just trying to get on your significant other’s schedule. “Unfortunately, I’m more experienced than I care to admit on long-distance relationships,” Hayes said in a recent radio interview. “Just because that is my life. I travel because I love to. As a result, I have to sort of make it work when a relationship kind of comes into view.” He didn’t say if he’s in such a relationship right this minute or if he’s still out there looking for love. What’s cool about Hayes, I think, is that he wouldn’t automatically say no to a faraway love just because it might present some challenges. “That’s a tricky thing to manage, and I know a lot of people who are just like, ’No, long distance relationships don’t work,'” he said. “I disagree . You can make them work.”
