Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Vince Gill and Jamey Johnson are among the artists featured on Divided & United, a two CD-set of Civil War songs brought to life through fresh interpretations. Set for release this fall on ATO Records, the project was supervised by Randall Poster, known for his work on projects such as HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Poster was inspired to make Divided & United while working in Nashville during the film production of Country Strong. With assistance by bluegrass musician Bryan Sutton, Divided & United celebrates music deeply vital to the history and spirit of America in tribute to the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Tracks include Lynn’s “Take Your Gun and Go, John,” Parton and Sutton’s arrangement of “Listen to the Mockingbird,” Gill’s “Dear Old Flag” and Johnson’s “Rebel Soldier.” It also features songs performed by Ashley Monroe, Lee Ann Womack, The Del McCoury Band, Ricky Skaggs, Old Crow Medicine Show, Steve Earle, Shovels & Rope, Chris Stapleton, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Ralph Stanley, Cowboy Jack Clement and T-Bone Burnett, among many others.
