OFFSTAGE: Brett Eldredge: Self-Proclaimed Dorkface

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

“I am totally gonna be that dorkface who buys his own album at the store the day it comes out! Today is the day!” That was Brett Eldredge‘s first tweet on Tuesday (Aug. 6) , the day his debut album was released. And with one big hit, “Don’t Ya,” being played on the radio about every five minutes or so, I’m guessing there will be a lot of people buying copies of Bring You Back. What I love about this collection of country is the long list of very accomplished songwriters Eldredge worked with. His liner notes read like a “who’s who” of Nashville. He collaborated with the same writers who’ve penned hits for Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Justin Moore, Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley and many others. Eldredge even lists all the writers by name on the album, noting, “I am beyond lucky to be able to have gotten to write these songs with you.” So he may be a dorkface, but at least he knows what a lucky dorkface he is.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
