OFFSTAGE: Carrie Underwood Taps Healthy Apps

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I guess this means Carrie Underwood isn’t addicted to Candy Crush Saga, Angry Birds, Pic Stitch and Snapchat? Underwood told USA Today that the apps on her smartphone that she loves the most are the ones that keep her in such great shape.

“It’s all, like, healthy-living stuff,” she said. And the two she called out — Livestrong ($2.99) and Whole Foods (free) — are the ones I immediately downloaded when I read that.

“I use my Livestrong app a lot. I’m a calorie counter. I have been for, like, seven years. I keep a food journal, and it has all my foods in it,” she noted. That app also has a cool Calorie Goal option, as well as a message board to help get motivated with the help of the community of other Livestrongers.

And for its Store Locator option, Underwood uses the Whole Foods app. “When we’re traveling, I have to look up Whole Foods,” she said. “I love the grocery store.”

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
