Carrie Underwood’s Onstage Tumble in Texas

Her Sense of Humor Intact, She'll Perform Again Friday Night in Lone Star State

If laughter truly is the best medicine, Carrie Underwood will be making a speedy recovery after injuring her foot during a Thursday night (Sept. 5) concert in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Although she was fitted with a walking boot following the mishap at the American Bank Center, she is still scheduled to perform Friday in Hidalgo, Texas, near the city of McAllen.

The superstar was performing “Undo It” at the Corpus Christi show when she experienced some footwear problems as her 5-inch stiletto heel caught the bottom of the long shirt she was wearing. She completed the song — and the concert — and was joking about it a short time later via Twitter and Facebook.

“Hey, remember that time in Corpus Christi when that girl busted her butt on stage?!” she wrote in her initial tweet. “Hilarious! Oh wait, that was me!”

A short time later, she added, “I can’t move my toes. Is that bad?”

After seeking medical care, she posted a photo of her foot in the walking boot and wrote, “Good news, it’s not broken … AND I got some new footwear!”

Following Friday’s show in Hidalgo, she was already scheduled to be off the road until a Sept. 13 appearance at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, Wash.

Underwood will be in the national spotlight this weekend when NBC premieres her performance of “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” as the theme for its Sunday Night Football telecasts. The prerecorded video segment features guest appearances by 13 NFL players, including New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
