Keith Urban, Steven Tyler Jam at Nashville Honky-Tonk

Aerosmith Frontman Surprises Fans During Urban's Visit to Lower Broadway

Steven Tyler surprised a packed house to jam with Keith Urban during a Friday night (Sept. 6) performance at a legendary Nashville honky-tonk, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge.

The rare club appearance was one of three stops Urban had previously announced for small venues on Nashville's Lower Broadway to promote the release of his new album, Fuse. To accommodate the crowds, Nashville police blocked downtown streets, and Urban simply walked from venue to venue as he performed brief sets at Legends, the Stage and Tootsie's.

"I want you to know you're my favorite American Idol," Tyler said after joining Urban onstage at Tootsie's. "Give J-Lo this for me."

The Aerosmith frontman then proceeded to kiss Urban on the cheek. Then, with Keith playing a blues riff on his electric guitar, Tyler delivered a jazzed up version of his Aerosmith hit, "Walk This Way."

Urban's Light the Fuse tour with Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch resumes Thursday in Cleveland. "Little Bit of Everything," the current single from Fuse, is spending its second week at No. 1 on Billboard's country airplay chart.

Tyler has been spending time in Nashville this week, making a surprise appearance Tuesday night at another tiny venue -- the Bluebird Café -- following an in-the-round performance by songwriters Marti Frederiksen, Mallary Hope, Phil Barton and Lindsey Lee. Tyler reportedly performed three songs, including Aerosmith's "Dream On" and "Jaded."

Frederiksen, who has co-written and co-produced songs with Aerosmith, has also been involved in projects with Faith Hill and Sara Evans, among others. His songwriting credits include Carrie Underwood's "Undo It" and "Mama's Song."
