Miley Cyrus Documentary Premieres Oct. 2 on MTV

Miley: The Movement Leads Up to Release of New Album, Bangerz

Gearing up for the release of her new album, Miley Cyrus’ new video for “Wrecking Ball” is grabbing headlines and setting records as she announces MTV’s Oct. 2 premiere of Miley: The Movement .

The one-hour documentary follows Cyrus as she records her Bangerz album and delves deep into her transformation from Disney icon to boundary-pushing pop star. On Tuesday (Sept. 10), she also revealed the track list for Bangerz, set to arrive Oct. 8.

The project includes “Wrecking Ball,” which set a Vevo record this week by claiming more than 15 million page views in less than 24 hours. In the video, Cyrus offers some daring moves, including swinging naked from an actual wrecking ball.

To create additional momentum for the album release, she heads to Saturday Night Live on Oct. 5 as host and musical performer.

MTV News last week gave fans an exclusive sneak peek of Miley: The Movement, previewing a scene in which Cyrus addresses critics of her controversial performance on the recent MTV Video Music Awards.

“I don’t pay attention to the negative,” she said. “I’ve seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for. You’re wanting to make history.”

Cyrus promises the documentary will reveal a candid look at her life and career.

“I want all my fans to come with me — to the studio, on the road, at performances,” Cyrus told MTV News. “There’s going to be a lot of ups and downs, and it’s going to be completely insane. You’ve gotta be a part of the movement with me.”

Miley: The Movement premieres Oct. 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
