Taylor Swift: “The Look” of a New Song

She Admits Getting Distracted When Creative Inspiration Strikes

Taylor Swift is sometimes “hard to talk to” … that is, if you ask Taylor Swift. Ask anyone else who has had the pleasure of meeting, interviewing or hugging her, however, and they will tell you she’s one of the most gracious, adorable people on the planet.

But should you ever feel a distant vibe or see a distant gaze in her eyes while meeting her, both Swift and the head of her record label want you to know one thing. There’s good reason for any of the self-proclaimed “social weirdness” the singer feels she accidentally imparts on people at times.

It’s not anyone’s fault. It’s all about a song.

Yep, there’s a good chance she’s got a new song swirling around in her head while she’s standing in front of you.

During a music industry gathering prior to her Thursday night (Sept. 19) concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Big Machine Label Group chief Scott Borchetta described the experience of realizing Swift has a new song on her mind.

“She’ll get this look in her eye, and we’ll just go, ‘She’s writing a song,’” he explained. “She’ll get the look, and it’s like, ‘This is gonna be good.’”

And Swift confirmed it can happen anytime, mostly during that crucial season when she’s thinking ahead to her next album. Inspiration — maybe a lyric or a melody — often arrives in the middle of a conversation with someone.

“It’s like a personality flaw,” she said. “It’s like a social, weird thing that I need to work on.”

I hope Swift never changes. This so-called “social weirdness” she speaks of could help create an upcoming hit single or a great album track.
