Fall Out Boy and The Band Perry are the latest artists to cross paths on CMT Crossroads . The place was rockin’, and let’s just say fans definitely came a knockin’ in droves for Wednesday’s (Oct. 2) taping this week at Rocketown, a popular hang near downtown Nashville.
It’s OK to admit if you’re a little uncertain how the Chicago-based rockers might sound on a Band Perry smash like “If I Die Young.” Or how Kimberly Perry might sound if she were to take on a Fall Out Boy hit like “Sugar, We’re Going Down.” The beauty of CMT Crossroads is not knowing what to expect when artists from two completely different musical worlds take the stage together, most often for the first time ever.
It’s fun to wonder if they’d met before the rehearsals, are they friends now and how they really feel about each other’s music. The banter between songs and the stories from behind the scenes give the audience a chance to see the heart and soul behind the collaboration.
Trust me, you’ll hear some big hits from both bands in ways you’ve never heard them before. You’ll also hear Kimberly Perry joke about how they all “coordinated” outfits and hear Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz describe the moment he fell in love with Nashville — thanks to a visit to a local Walgreens.
And if you look closely, you might even catch a glimpse of that engagement ring Ms. Perry is now sporting from her fiancé, Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia.
