Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line Among Top Nominees at American Music Awards

Luke Bryan Nabs Two Nominations for November Awards Show

Taylor Swift claimed five nominations and Florida Georgia Line grabbed four when the nominees for the 2013 American Music Awards were announced Thursday (Oct. 10) in New York City.

Swift is nominated for overall artist of the year in a field that also includes Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake. In the favorite pop/rock category, Swift is up for favorite female artist (alongside Pink and Rihanna), and her Red album is nominated for favorite album (with One Direction’s Take Me Home and Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience).

Also in the all-genre field, Florida Georgia Line is nominated for new artist of the year (with Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Phillip Phillips) and single of the year for their collaboration with rapper Nelly on “Cruise.” Other nominees for single of the year are “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz and “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell & T.I.

Of course, Swift and Florida Line also excelled in the country division.

Red, Florida Georgia Line’s Here’s to the Good Times and Luke Bryan‘s Crash My Party are nominated for favorite country album.

Swift, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood are the nominees for favorite female country artist, and Florida Georgia Line, The Band Perry and Lady Antebellum are up for favorite country band, duo or group. Bryan, Hunter Hayes and Blake Shelton are nominated for favorite male country artist.

The 2013 American Music Awards will be presented on Nov. 24 in Los Angeles. The event will be televised live on ABC.
