Where Taylor Swift’s Style Staples Come From

Even though Taylor Swift is gracing the pages of the November issue of InStyle magazine in designer clothes so high-end I can barely pronounce their names, her own everyday style is way more down to earth.

“I shop a lot at vintage stores, and I really love places like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters,” she told the magazine about her recent shopping habits. “I feel like they really get it right in terms of staples to wear every day.”

Those stores are in almost every major mall in just about every major city. So stealing Swift’s style is pretty easy to do. But the inspiration behind her style isn’t always so easy to find. Because she likes things that remind her of her fashion icons — Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Francoise Hardy — she tries to recreate their standout looks.

“My favorite look these days is a good riding pant, those jodhpur things with the little knee pads, paired with a nice white oxford shirt,” she says.

Another way to copy a Swift style is to get a fitted cable-knit sweater. She told InStyle she likes the cashmere ones from Ralph Lauren, but honestly, you can get those sweaters anywhere for much less. No offense to Mr. Lauren.

And you know what Swift always pairs with her outfits? Red lips.

“I feel more confident when I have a red lip on. Right now I’m using Aqua Rouge No. 8 by Make Up for Ever,” she said. “It has two sides to it. One side is a gloss, and one side is a lip stain.”

That Iconic Red shade is about $24, and you can only get it at Sephora. But you were going to go to the mall to browse at Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters anyway, right?
