Jason Aldean’s April concert at the University of Georgia was a dream come true and one that made history as the first ever held at Sanford Stadium, home of the Georgia Bulldogs football team.
“Georgia football is like a religion where I’m from,” Aldean told CMT Hot 20 Countdown . “And just growing up such a huge fan of that team and that school and to have a chance to go back and play a show of that size in that stadium — and be the first artist ever to play in that stadium in front of my friends and family — that was the best part of it to me.”
The concert was a packed with surprises, including show-stopping guest appearances the Georgia native admits were fun to prepare.
“It’s fun [when] you know what’s about to happen and nobody else does,” said Aldean. “When that other artist hits the stage and the place erupts like that, it’s a good feeling. And, plus, you feel like you’re giving the fans something they weren’t expecting — something that was a little added bonus — which is always nice to do, too.”
Now Aldean is bringing the unforgettable experience to fans everywhere with the release of Night Train to Georgia, a concert DVD shot live at the show.
“I got the chance to see bits and pieces of it as they put it together and finally got a chance to see it all finished, and it’s cool,” he said. “I think it turned out really good. Shaun Silva directed it, and he’s done a ton of great music videos, so I’m excited for people to see it.”
In an exclusive CMT special, fans can catch a 30-minute preview of the film . Tune in Saturday (Oct. 19), at 2 p.m. ET/PT following the latest CMT Hot 20 Countdown for a sneak peek of Aldean’s Night Train to Georgia.
