LeAnn Rimes Laughs at Critics on Upcoming Reality Show

Singer Stops by CMT Offices With VH1 Cameras in Tow

It's been a busy week in Nashville for LeAnn Rimes, who stopped by CMT Tuesday (Oct. 22) with her VH1 reality series camera crew close behind. Rimes says filming the show has been a fun addition to her schedule and the life of her family, including her husband, actor Eddie Cibrian.

"I call it script-ality," she joked with CMT Hot 20 Countdown. "We're having a lot of fun. We really are. ... To me, there's so much crap out there about Eddie and myself, it gave us an opportunity to work together again and to be at home with the kids and have fun and take all this crap that everyone always says about us and make fun of it.

"There's a lot of comedy, there's a lot of heart. We definitely approach some heavier topics, but we always laugh at everything. That's just who we are, anyway, so for that to come across in the show is super important."

Unlike the schedule of a traditional docu-series, Rimes says she isn't followed continuously. The freedom allows her to continue work promoting her latest album, Spitfire.

"I have a new single coming out soon," she said. "I did a duet with [Matchbox 20's] Rob Thomas that [guitarist] Jeff Beck played on, and we're just finishing up the video for that. That should be out the first of the year, so I'm excited."

Rimes was also looking forward to her next stop of the day, a very special Grand Ole Opry appearance. In support of breast cancer awareness, the singer flipped the switch turning the legendary venue pink for the month of October.

"It's super important to get the message out [about] prevention," Rimes said. "My husband's mom actually had breast cancer, so that's another reason it's important to me. ... It's a hard disease to deal with -- any kind of cancer -- but when you're dealing with what makes you feel like a woman in itself and dealing with losing part of that, these women are brave. To celebrate them in any way is absolutely important to me."
