Tyler Farr Is Now the "Redneck Crazy" Guy

Singer Learns to Embrace His New Status After Scoring a Major Hit

Tyler Farr is learning fast about the perks and pitfalls of fame. That's what happens when your breakthrough single becomes a monster hit on the country charts. One minute, you're the dude from Missouri with a killer voice and promising future. The next, people are walking up to ask you, "Hey, you're the 'Redneck Crazy' guy, aren't you?"

Life changed in a major way for Farr when the title track to his debut album Redneck Crazy hit the upper reaches of the country Top 10. Not only did the single perform extremely well, but the album also debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's country albums chart earlier this month, selling roughly 29,000 copies in its first week and more than 44,000 to date.

That makes it the biggest country debut of the year by a new male artist.

So good luck, buddy, on not being approached by adoring fans next time you visit the grocery store. Though he says doesn't do anything to encourage the attention, he understands it comes with the territory and actually doesn't mind it at all.

"I mean, I don't wear rhinestone suits into Bass Pro or into Walmart or anyplace. I just dress normal, look normal," he says with a laugh.

But life is anything but normal now for him now. People know his face and his distinctive voice -- and that takes some getting used to.

"I'm like, 'How in the heck do you know who I am?' he says. "Like, I'm that guy now. I'm the redneck guy. I'm the 'Redneck Crazy' guy."

There are definitely far worse things to be.

"Whiskey in My Water" is the next single from Farr's album.
