Kacey Musgraves Hoping for CMA Album of the Year Win

Sure, Kacey Musgraves is technically a new artist, but that’s about to be completely forgotten. Once you are nominated for six CMA Awards , nobody really cares or even remembers that you’ve only been on country radio for a little over a year. (Her breakout debut single “Merry Go ‘Round” was just released in September 2012.)

But of all the nominations Musgraves has Tuesday (Nov. 5) on the eve of the CMA Awards — female vocalist, new artist, album of the year, single of the year, song of the year (for “Merry Go ‘Round) and another song of the year nod for writing Miranda Lambert‘s “Mama’s Broken Heart” — there’s one that she says is the one.

In a recent radio interview, Musgraves admitted an album of the year win would feel so good for everyone involved.

“You know, if you can take that home, then I feel like your entire body of work is rewarded,” she said. “It’s not just the songs or the singer. It’s the band. It’s the package. It’s the photography that’s on the album cover, which my sister did. So I’m just excited. I really got to pour my heart and soul into making Same Trailer, Different Park, and I was very lucky in being able to just do what I want to do and say what I want to say and take my time making it.”

If she does win the coveted CMA trophy for album of the year, Musgraves will beat out Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Little Big Town.
