Take CMT Anywhere and Everywhere

I don’t really like to be away from country music, country stars and/or country news for more than about 10 minutes at a time. I know, I know. A little obsessive, but CMT now has a video app you can download for free.

So anywhere you can take your smart phone, you can take your CMT. That means show clips, full episodes and sometimes exclusives of shows before they even premiere on TV. And the Connect feature will let you see tweets from other country music lovers about — what else — country music.

My favorite part of the app, so far, is getting to watch videos from CMT Hot 20 Countdown . For example, if you’re sitting in the airport waiting to board your plane — like I am right now — you can get the inside scoop on everything that went down on the CMA Awards , listen to Thomas Rhett talk about his new album release and watch the stars come out to honor Kenny Rogers at his Country Music Hall of Fame induction. Being able to hear Garth Brooks talk about how proud he was to be there and see him take his hat off to Rogers is a nice little thrill while I’m doing something super mundane. (And the scene of Brooks taking his hat off was just a screen shot waiting to happen, right? Or is that just me?)

That’s the power of all apps, I realize. But to have CMT in my back pocket like that just makes me feel that much more connected to the music and shows I love.

The CMT app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at http://on.cmt.com/app .
