Sarah Darling Confirms Marriage

Informal Ceremony in April Will Be Followed by Nashville Wedding

Singer-songwriter Sarah Darling confirms she married graphic designer James Muriel in April during an informal ceremony in Florida.

"We had a private ceremony, and we're having a big wedding later," Darling said Thursday (Nov. 14) during a visit to CMT's Nashville offices to promote her new EP, Have a Merry Little Christmas Darling.

The Iowa native met Muriel, who is originally from London, through his father, an aspiring songwriter. The couple became engaged during a vacation in Key West, Fla., in April and were married on the beach there. While their courtship was mainly long distance with Muriel in England and Darling in Nashville, he moved to Music City earlier this year.

"We're having a big wedding, the spring wedding, here in Nashville May 30," she told CMT.com.

Darling, who has been selected as one of CMT's Next Women of Country, will release her holiday EP on Tuesday (Nov. 19). Produced by Steve Gibson, the project includes her take on classic Christmas tunes including "The Christmas Song," "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and "Silent Night," along with her cover of Joni Mitchell's melancholy ballad, "River."

In support of the EP, she will be performing an acoustic concert at the Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tenn., on Dec. 13. She will be joined by several special guests, including Matthew Perryman Jones and Jenn Bostic.

Darling's previous projects include 2009's Every Monday Morning, 2011's Angels & Devils and digital EP, Home to Me, released in early 2013. Notable singles include "Home to Me" and her summertime single, "Little Umbrellas."
