Jason Aldean Predicts a Surprising Night at CMT Artists of the Year

Four-Time Honoree Looks Ahead to Surprises During the Live Show

For four-time honoree Jason Aldean, Tuesday night’s (Dec. 3) CMT Artists of the Year special holds an important significance when compared with other awards shows.

“I think CMT has always been a huge part of helping artists launch their career,” he told CMT Hot 20 Countdown in an interview about the special. “It helps people put a face with a name and the music. I think it’s always been a great tool for artists, and to get recognized by CMT for being one of the artists of the year, that’s a cool thing.”

In a glamorous 90-minute special, CMT will honor Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Hunter Hayes and Tim McGraw for their outstanding career achievements this year. Months of planning go into making the live show come together seamlessly, and the artists are actively involved in the production of special video tributes and exclusive interviews.

As the only recipient of the award in each of the show’s four years, Aldean says there’s a mysterious aspect that adds to the evening’s glamour and appeal.

“You never really know who is going to be there,” he said. “You never really know who is coming out to introduce who. It’s a little bit of a melting pot of you-never-know. So to me, that’s always the fun part.”

Tune in to CMT Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET to celebrate an incredible year in music, and get all the latest CMT Artists of the Year updates at CMT.com.
