Fireball Wrecked Parmalee

When somebody says they are going to parody Miley Cyrus‘ “Wrecking Ball,” I expect sledgehammers, combat boots, little white tank tops and, you know, wrecking ball rides.

So I was initially a little disappointed that this Parmalee parody was just an in-studio performance on The Bobby Bones Show. Until they started singing. Then I loved it.

The band — brothers Matt and Scott Thomas, cousin Barry Knox and Josh McSwain — released their debut album, Feels Like Carolina, on Tuesday (Dec. 10).

Their song parody is actually kind of a love-gone-wrong story, just like Cyrus’, except that they gave their heart to Fireball Cinnamon Whisky. The one that claims it “tastes like heaven, burns like hell.”

Parmalee has the No. 1 song in country music right now with their “Carolina.” But this “Fireball” may end up getting traction, too. It’s hysterical:

“Fireball”

They called. We came. We all met at the Tin Roof right around 5.
That happy hour two for one: Damn, it’s such a good buy.
But don’t you ever wish we could have a couple drinks and everybody go home?
Just a couple beers till rush hour traffic clears and everybody go home.

But somebody bought us Fireball.
And we would drink it all night long.
We never stood a chance at all.
The Fireball, it wrecked me. The Fireball, it wrecked me.

Round one, round two, round three, round four.
I should’ve been home chillin’ with my girl.
But, nah, we drank every drop.
Don’t you ever wish we could have a couple drinks and everybody go home?

I never meant to drink all night.
I just wanted to hang out with friends.
But the Fireball struck again.
Don’t you ever wish we could have a couple drinks and everybody go home?
