Georgia native Jason Aldean may be one of country’s biggest stars now, but he’s never forgotten his roots.
And despite all the success he’s garnered in the past few years, he admits times weren’t always so great — early in his career and even early on in life. But there were always good times to be had in the face of any adversity. In fact, he says those humble beginnings actually brought him one of his favorite Christmas memories ever — and it totally involves Star Wars.
“I was a big Star Wars nerd for a while … when I was a kid, like 5,” Aldean recalls. “And I remember one Christmas, I woke up and I had all the figures. I say all of them. It was probably, like, 10 of them. Which, for me, might as well have been all of them. And then I had the big Millennium Falcon — the big ship — all this stuff.”
This was the stuff Christmas dreams were made of for Aldean, who recognized the sacrifices that went into that gift.
“I mean, I was kind of a poor kid,” he said. We didn’t get stuff like that all the time.”
Suffice to say, it’s a completely different story for him now. Now a country superstar, he finishes out 2013 with his wildly-successful Night Train tour, his first concert DVD, a CMA entertainer of the year nomination and being named one of the 2013 CMT Artists of the Year.
It should be a very good Christmas for one of country’s hottest artists.
