Bentley took time to reveal the track listing to Riser, his highly-anticipated new album. But then he (or his bandmates) took it a step farther, embarking on a social media spree where someone began posting video after video of Bentley on his tour bus, drinking a cold one and singing along to what we are hoping might be the actual tracks from the album itself.
The singer tweeted, “What in the hell is up with my Instagram account?? Drunk hidden camera karaoke to my own songs on the bus. Think my band is pranking me.”
Might this be the most glorious, deliciously cool and completely personal album sneak preview ever? And are these the actual tracks we’ll hear on Riser?
We do know that Riser is an important album for Bentley. Not because it’s his seventh studio album or it seems there’s always pressure to stack a project full of hits, no matter how established you are as an artist. For Bentley, it means something more than that. This album is about emotions, deeply-rooted feelings, strength and resiliency. It’s his first project since the passing of his father and the birth of his first son.
It’s complex, and Bentley wanted you to hear and feel that. Teaming with producers Ross Copperman and Arturo Buenahora Jr., he recorded it in Copperman’s home studio. It created a truly personal sonic experience, which is exactly what he wanted.
And with songs written by Bentley and some of Nashville’s absolute finest wordsmiths, you will feel it. Throw in some background vocals from Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves, the incomparable Chris Stapleton, The Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston and guitar and banjo whiz Charlie Worsham, and you’ll no doubt be catching the spirit.
Riser officially hits stores Feb. 25 but is available for pre-order now. In the meantime, do yourself a favor and check out Bentley’s official Instagram page and watch these video clips for yourself.
