Taylor Swift Adorably Asks “For Your Consideration”

ACM Nominee Makes Different Kind of Video

Taylor Swift is one lovable little cookie.

We all know the key to our own happiness — and everyone’s heart — can be found in having just a tiny touch of self-deprecating humor, which Swift brilliantly shows off in her hilarious new “For Your Consideration” video for the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards.

Just what is a “For Your Consideration” video? Artists and record labels will create these videos in the weeks leading up to the big awards night as a way to say thank-you to the voters for an incredible year and make a final case, if you will, to earn the votes needed to take home the trophy during the show.

Think of it as something akin to a political campaign, except less invasive and way more entertaining. To me, it’s a grand opportunity to see my favorite artists poke a little fun at themselves or current pop culture trends and be delightfully human and real — which is exactly what Swift does in her video.

The entertainer, female vocalist, single record, video and vocal event of the year nominee is shown answering a call from her record label president, exclaiming how she can’t wait to talk to him. He can’t wait to check ACM Consideration Video off his Taylor to-do List — a list that already includes selling 1.2 million albums first week, selling out a world arena and stadium tour, scoring three No. 1 singles from the Red album and performing five sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena.

But before they get down to business, Swift needs to put him on hold to take care of some important personal business on her to-do list — like the business of painting her nails, feeding treats to her cat Meredith, offering advice to a brokenhearted girlfriend — all while he waits patiently. It’s utterly adorable and hilarious. See for yourself.

More videos from other nominees will be popping up in the coming weeks as the countdown to the 49th annual Academy of Country Music Awards continues. The awards show will be telecast April 6 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
