Tim McGraw's 'Sundown Heaven Town' to Arrive in September

He'll Introduce New Songs During Summer Tour With Kip Moore and Cassadee Pope

Tim McGraw's new album Sundown Heaven Town will be released Sept. 16, he announced Thursday (April 3).

The album's first single, "Lookin' for That Girl," has already ascended to No. 17 on Billboard's country airplay chart.

McGraw launches his Sundown Heaven Town 2014 tour on May 8 in Fresno, Calif. Kip Moore and Cassadee Pope are the support acts on the summer concerts.

"When you finish making an album, all you want is to have everyone hear it as soon as possible," McGraw said in announcing the title and release date of his new project. "I'm in the unique position this year that I'm able to tour ahead of the album and introduce the fans to these songs early.

"I've never done anything like this before, but in a world driven by immediate gratification, I want to be able to play a song live somewhere and then have it available for download right then. You just never know where new music might pop up over the next few months. ... It's going to be a fun summer."

During his performance on Sunday's (April 6) Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, McGraw will introduce a promotion called Countdown to Sundown. After accessing his ACM performance via Shazam, consumers can join the program for free downloads and contests leading up to the album's release date.

Before heading to Las Vegas for the ACM Awards, McGraw is scheduled to perform Saturday in Dallas at the 2014 NCAA March Madness Music Festival.

McGraw has seven ACM nominations, including a video nod for "Highway Don't Care" with Taylor Swift and Keith Urban. As an artist and producer, he is nominated twice for single and vocal event of the year ("Highway Don't Care"), as well as album of the year (Two Lanes of Freedom).
