Sugarland's Kristian Bush Plans Solo Album

He Teams With Producer Byron Gallimore

Sugarland's Kristian Bush is at work on his first solo album with a new country single expected this summer. Bush will release the album through Streamsound Records, a label co-owned by producer Byron Gallimore.

Sugarland and Gallimore co-produced four of the band's albums: Enjoy the Ride, Love on the Inside, Gold and Green and The Incredible Machine.

"I'm so excited to be working with Byron Gallimore again," Bush said. "I'm constantly surprised at how creative I feel and how innovative he is every time we hit record."

Bush is currently touring with a five-piece band. His next scheduled concert date is Friday (May 2) at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga.

Earlier this month, Bush wrote about his upcoming project on his website: "I am excited -- and a little nervous -- to announce that beginning this week, I am officially putting the finishing touches on my debut solo album. From 300 songs, I have chosen 15. The next step is to get that down to 12.

"The songs need mixing and mastering. There are new sounds to be added and maybe new vocals to be sung. And then there is everything that goes along with an album release. I need to choose a title and a single and take new photos and design the album art and figure out the sequencing and introduce the music to my friends at radio and play more live shows."

Sugarland counterpart Jennifer Nettles released her solo album, That Girl, on Mercury Records in January.

The Streamsound Records roster also includes Dakota Bradley, Jaida Dreyer and Austin Webb.
