Jake Owen Gives Couple a Little Bit of “Heaven”

Singer Provides Special Moment for His New Friend in Kentucky

When Jake Owen released his Barefoot Blue Jean Night albumin 2011, one particular song was a standout in my book — a track called “Heaven.”

“Oh, I’ve heard that it’s perfect, so what do you say we see if they’re right?” the lyrics ask. “Well, I can take you on a trip to Heaven and have you back by tonight.”

Never a single, the song lived on the album in the mix of massive hits like “Alone With You,” “The One That Got Away” and, of course, the album’s title track.

But “Heaven” was different. It was more of a ballad — slower, sweeter and definitely the kind of song guaranteed to put butterflies in your stomach — and set a romantic mood.

That’s why Owen chose sang the song to help two lucky fans get into that romantic spirit at his recent sold-out concert in Bowling Green, Ky., during his Days of Gold tour.

During the preshow meet-and-greet, the country star met Seth and Sierra, an adorable, newly-engaged couple ready to enjoy the night of music. Seth shared with Owen that when he proposed, he was playing the tune in the background during the big moment.

Their one special request was to hear him perform “Heaven.”

How could Owen say no to the request to perform “Heaven”? He couldn’t — and wouldn’t. Instead, he decided to take it a step further. Not only did he change his set to include the song, he also invited the couple onstage to dance to the song during the show.

Of course, the singer tweeted the happy couple after, sharing a gorgeous photo of the moment and telling them, “To my new friends Seth and Sierra. … Glad I met you and have you on my stage for your engagement dance. Congrats!!”

Owen knows a thing or two about getting engaged onstage.

In 2012, he proposed to his love Lacey Buchanan in front of thousands of fans during a hometown show in Vero Beach, Fla. Two years and one beautiful baby girl later, they’re on a fast track to living happily ever after.
