Never underestimate Hunter Hayes' work ethic. Immediately after breaking the Guinness World Record for the most concerts played in multiple cities in 24 hours, he boarded a plane to Japan for a series of appearances this week to promote his new album, Storyline.

This guy is going to need a vacation in the near future, but his 24-Hour Road Race to End Child Hunger had the two-fold mission of publicizing Storyline while calling attention to the fight against child hunger.

His attempt to break the Guinness record began Thursday (May 9) in New York City during an appearance on Good Morning America. After rolling into Philadelphia's Trocadero Theatre around 5 a.m. Saturday, he had performed 10 concerts in 10 cities in a span of just 24 hours and broke the record set in June 2012 by the Flaming Lips during the O Music Awards.

Ten shows in 10 cities in 24 hours? Whew! But the message of ending child hunger was the most important part.

"It's a chance for us to not only tell people about this issue ... [but] also getting to set up some places to actually donate meals, donate food -- any sort of donation, really," he said before the whirlwind tour. "Anything you can do to help obviously ... to take advantage of every opportunity you get."

Among the stops Boston and cities in Rhode Island, New Jersey and Connecticut. Of course, he had some great artist friends there to support him and play, as well, including his pals Charlie Worsham, Dan + Shay, the Railers, Dean Alexander and Matt Sucich.

For Hayes, the experience was thrilling, and he's extremely grateful to the fans for helping him make his vision a reality.

"I'm so proud to get to work with them and all the sponsors," he said. "Thank you to all the fans for not only making history with us but also making this whole thing absolutely awesome."

The 24-Hour Road Race to End Child Hunger marked a partnership with ConAgra Foods' Child Hunger Ends Here program.

After returning from Japan, maybe Hayes can get a little rest before he travels to Baton Rouge, La., for the Bayou Country Superfest where he's on a bill with Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Big & Rich and Joe Nichols. He'll resume his We're Not Invisible tour May 29 in Augusta, Ga.
