Will Keith Urban and Judges Steal the Show During 'American Idol' Finale?

Plans Underway for Urban's Collaboration With Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr.

Let's face it. If you put Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. onstage to perform together, it's safe to fear all other performances in the evening may pale in comparison.

But the point of a big finale episode of a hit show like American Idol is to crown a winner but also to bring out the biggest names in the business and go out with a musical bang.

A collaboration between Urban and his fellow superstar judges could possibly happen on Wednesday night's (May 21) Idol finale. The country star admitted he truly admires the talent of Lopez and Connick.

"The three of us have been trying to figure out a song we can do for the finale," Urban said. "It's proved to be a bit challenging to find one song that works for all three of us 'cause we are very, very different musically ... and vocally even."

Yes, that could prove to be a bit of a hurdle, although I'd wager any of them could sing just about any song in any genre, if necessary. They have carved out their individual niches. Urban is a beloved country superstar, Lopez is the international pop phenomenon and Connick is the classic crooner I always secretly wanted to marry.

Wait! Did I just say that? Oops.

But despite their diverse backgrounds, the panel clearly possesses both a strong personal and musical chemistry, so anything is possible. And with the help of one very special former judge, the threesome might just deliver something completely mind-blowing and magical.

"We may put together several songs in sequence we can do," Urban said. "We've Randy Jackson on to that trying to figure out a game plan, but I hope we get to do that 'cause I'd really like to sing with them."
