Lee Ann Womack: The Way She's Livin'

Fans Get a First Listen to the Title Track of Her Upcoming Album

Just putting the phrases "Lee Ann Womack" and "new album" together in the same sentence is enough to make the country music angels sing. And when they do, I'm convinced they sound just like she does.

From our lips to God's ears, Womack has finally made plans to release a new album, The Way I'm Livin', this fall. But you knew that already. The latest news is that Womack is giving fans a first listen to the project's title track on the Wall Street Journal website.

This is the first new music we've heard from the star since 2008's Call Me Crazy, which was one heck of a record that produced the singles "Last Call" and maybe one of my personal favorites out of her entire catalog -- "Solitary Thinkin'."

For this new project, she's teamed up with her hubby, producer Frank Liddell, who has worked with other stars such as Miranda Lambert and David Nail. And Womack has found a new label home at Sugar Hill Records.

And with her new label championing artists from left-of-mainstream acts like Sarah Jarosz to icons like Marty Stuart and Connie Smith, the rootsy, acoustic sound of Womack's newest single will no doubt be right at home on their roster.

"It was so raw and real and, well, unrepentant," she says of the title track.

Yes, she may sound like an angel singing it, but the character in the song is anything but heavenly, belting out lines like, "Oh, mama, the way that I'm livin', lyin' and a sinnin'/And I just can't change/Oh, mama, the way that I'm livin'/If I ever get to heaven, it's a doggone shame."

Womack admitted, "This song hit me the first time I heard it, and it hits me every time I sing it, hear it or even think about it."

Prepare yourselves. The Way I'm Livin' will be released Sept. 23.
