Taylor Swift's Thailand Concert Canceled

She Was Scheduled to Perform There on June 9

Taylor Swift's Red tour of Asia is still scheduled for the coming weeks but without a stop in Thailand. That country fell under military rule last week, and a nighttime curfew has been imposed, so the concert in Bangkok has been canceled.

Swift sent a tweet about the cancellation: "I'm sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I'm so sad about the concert being canceled."

BEC Tero, a concert promoter, issued a written statement about the concert.

"Due to recent events in Thailand, Taylor Swift's concert in Bangkok scheduled for Monday June 9, 2014, has been cancelled," according to the press release. "This has been a difficult decision for all parties. Taylor, (concert promoter) AEG, BEC Tero and 13 Management all express regret and sincere apologies to the fans in Thailand."

Swift's next tour dates will be Friday (May 30) in Shanghai. When ticket to the Shanghai concert went on sale last month, the event sold out in one minute. In June, she is scheduled to perform in Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.
