With beach balls bouncing around the Kia Outdoor Performance Stage on Wednesday night (June 4), hundreds of fans outside the Bridgestone Arena were positively glowing against the Nashville skyline at sunset.
“Beachin” is shaping up to be the breakout hit from Owen’s newest album, Days of Gold. He launched an arena tour earlier this year to support the project.
“It’s gonna be fun to get out there and test the waters on our own tour doing arenas,” he told CMT in January. “I mean, I can’t imagine just pulling our trucks up to the back of the arena somewhere and playing places like that — coming from where I’ve come from and the places I’ve played.”
Owen’s next tour stop is scheduled for June 12 in North Lawrence, Ohio, near Akron. He has tour dates scheduled through Oct. 25 when he’ll hit his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla.
Owen has been a regular on CMT for many years. He arrived on the charts in 2006 with “Yee Haw,” then built a name for himself with hits like “Startin’ With Me,” “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” and “Eight Second Ride.” In 2011, his career exploded with “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Alone With You” and “The One That Got Away.” He released Days of Gold in December.
New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker and his wife, singer Jessie James Decker, introduced the performance.
