CMA Fest 2014: Thomas Rhett, Alan Jackson and More

Country Stars Entertain and Hang With More Than 80,000 Fans

The annual CMA Music Festival came to an end Sunday night (June 8) following four days of events and incredible country music with over 80,000 fans per day in attendance.

According to the Country Music Association, more than 150 hours of concerts were held on 11 stages, including the nightly stadium blowouts at the sold-out LP Field. Hosted by Little Big Town for the second year, those superstar concerts were filmed for the upcoming television special CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock, which will air Aug. 5 on ABC.

But what has made this festival so unique since its founding in 1972 as Fan Fair is the way country stars interact with the fans.

On Thursday, Thomas Rhett hosted his third annual Fan Volunteer Day at Second Harvest Food Bank. The event brought the singer together with over 50 guests and was part of the Outnumber Hunger initiative. In thanks for all the hard work, Rhett performed a few of their favorite tunes.

"Just the fact that we can come here -- especially with my fans," Rhett told CMT Hot 20 Countdown. "Come here to Second Harvest Food bank and help with them sorting food ... with Outnumber Hunger, Feeding America and Hands On Nashville, we can come here and do something that's a little different, kind of just give back to our community and play a couple songs. So while we're having fun, we can also kind of just help people out."

Rhett also performed on Sunday night at LP Field.

Alan Jackson, who was honored at last week's CMT Music Awards, announced plans to embark on a 25-city, 25th anniversary tour early next year.

"I just appreciate all the fans that [have] been enjoying all the music all these years," Jackson said to his audience at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. "Of course, thanks to the Country Music Hall of Fame for giving us all this attention, and the 25 years is just crazy."
