Cassadee Pope: The Voice Helped Her Bond With Her Father

Their Relationship Is Now "Just Like the Old Days"

Cassadee Pope certainly has a lot to be thankful for these days. The Florida native has enjoyed a fantastic amount of success in the country music world since winning NBC’s The Voice as a member of Blake Shelton‘s team in 2012, and she’s grateful for every bit of it.

But that’s not the only blessing Pope is counting. Not only did The Voice bring her the exposure she needed to show the world just how much talent and heart she possesses, it also afforded her a more personal opportunity to reconnect with her father.

Pope credits her time on the show as a chance to rebuild her relationship with her father and start anew after a period where they weren’t really that close following her parents’ divorce.

The Voice is what really reconnected us and made our relationship the best it’s ever been,” she said in a recent interview.

She hasn’t been shy about discussing the pain of her folks’ split. Last year, she admitted to People magazine that when she and her father did start speaking again, they agreed to “not hold grudges or live in the past.” She also revealed much of what was holding their relationship back was simply “pride getting in the way.”

But not anymore. Now, Pope says the two chat regularly, and things couldn’t be better.

“I love the fact that I can call him up now, and he can call me, and it’s just like the old days,” she said. “So I’m really, really appreciative that he’s back in my life.”

Another happy ending just in time for Father’s Day. Here’s to Pope and her pop!
