Keith Urban Sings at a Nurses’ Station

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound. Especially when it’s coming from Keith Urban on what could have been an otherwise ordinary day at the hospital.

Urban was in Australia on Friday (June 13) when he and wife Nicole Kidman took some time to visit the Monash Children’s Hospital in Victoria and hopped up on the desk of the nurses’ station, pulled out his mini guitar and led the group of doctors, nurses and staff in a sweet, slowed-down sing-along of “Amazing Grace.”

Even Kidman joined in singing the timeless hymn.

The whole video is only two minutes long, but it just shows you how down-to-earth Urban is. He isn’t flanked by an entourage, he didn’t institute a no-camera policy, he didn’t demand a proper stage, and he appears to be pretty comfortable sitting on the desk.

Who even does that anymore? Oh, yeah. Country stars.

The couple also attended the Swisse Celebrate Life Ball while they were down under. Australian news outlets are reporting the ball had a masquerade theme and that milliner Kerrie Stanley made masks for both Urban and Kidman. I’ve seen plenty of red carpet pictures from the ball but nothing with the masks on.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
