And then I found myself wondering if Hayes celebrated the single’s release with any tattoos of his own.
“I have a song called ’Tattoo,’ and I don’t even have tattoos, so … I feel so horrible,” Hayes recently confessed to Entertainment Tonight .
That’s nothing to feel horrible about. There’s plenty of time to take the plunge with your first piece of ink.
Apparently, Hayes is a little overwhelmed by the mere thought of choosing a tattoo.
“I don’t know what I would get,” he said.
Hayes may not be sure what he’d like as a permanent reminder of a moment or memory, but several of his biggest fans certainly like having anything relating to him eternally etched on their skin.
During his last tour, Hayes met a fan itching to have his autograph tattooed on her inner forearm. And she meant business.
“I’m gonna get it tattooed before the show,” she told him.
“I looked at my watch and said, ’There’s no way!'” Hayes said. “I just met her again recently. She actually flew to a show in Nashville, and she sure enough got it tattooed before the show. She missed like maybe the first song or something, but she got my signature tattooed. And she was like, ’I was serious!’ I was like, ’I support your commitment!'”
He was grateful for the fan’s gesture.
“It’s a huge compliment,” he said. “I mean, that is one of the coolest things in the world. I’ve seen some lyric tattoos that are really cool. That’s probably the coolest for me.”
