Country Stars Shocked by Rob Bironas' Death

Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan Fill Twitter After Former Titan's Tragic Accident

Even if you never knew the former Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas, you'd know how much he was loved just by looking at Twitter on Sunday (Sept. 21).

Bironas, 36, was killed in a single-vehicle car accident in Nashville late on Saturday night when he appeared to be driving home. No one else was hurt in the crash.

He and his wife Rachel Bradshaw, daughter of former quarterback Terry Bradshaw, had friends throughout the country music community.

Carrie Underwood was one of the first to hear the news on Sunday morning and shared her condolences on social media.

"Shocked and saddened this morning at the passing of Rob Bironas. Such a nice guy. Sending prayers and love to his family ... RB # 2," she said.

Luke Bryan also expressed his grief.

"@RobBironas Passed away this morning. I'm heartbroken. One of most genuine and charitable persons I've ever met. Praying for everyone," Bryan wrote.

The tweets kept coming all day long as people in and around Nashville heard the sad news.

Dierks Bentley: "I don't know anyone that didn't like rob bironas. lot of heavy hearts in nashville today. prayers for his family."

Will Hoge: "Very sad to wake and read the news about @RobBironas Such a sweet guy every time I saw him. My most sincere thoughts to his wife and family."

Rodney Atkins: "Not only will sports world miss @RobBironas but country music too. Always giving his time to make the world better. Sending love & prayers to @RachelTBradshaw & @RobBironas' family, friends & fans. Gonna miss you brother. Can't believe it #RIPRobBironas."

The Randy Rogers Band: "RIP Rob Bironas. Prayers. Prayers. Prayers."

Charlie Daniels: "Just got up and Dean told me the sad news about Rob Bironas getting killed in a car wreck last night. Such a great guy. Deepest condolences." He later added, "Watching football today seems every time somebody kicks an extra point or a field goal I remember Rob Bironas."

Joe Don Rooney: "Saddened by the news of our @rascalflatts friend @RobBironas -- Our thoughts, prayers & sympathy are with his family at this time."

Josh Turner: "I'm shocked at the news of Rob Bironas' accident. He will always be a Nashville icon & was a great guy."

Craig Campbell: "Sad day today... Prayers go out to the family and friends of @RobBironas #gonetoosoon."

Jerrod Niemann: "I'm so sad about the loss of our buddy @RobBironas. Please keep him & his wife @RachelTBradshaw in your thoughts & prayers. He will be missed."

And I think David Nail made an astute observation when he wrote, "Surely @espn will at least mention the passing of Rob Bironas, or is the continued coverage of current suspended players more significant?"
